Your preschooler's first teacher
Want a meaningful job? Be your child’s first teacher! Yes, you are the driver to the doctor, the reader of bedtime stories, the cleaner of the kitchen messes and the gatherer of scattered toys. But as preschool time approaches, you add a new role to the growing list of jobs you do as parent — your child’s first teacher.
Here are some skills that can help your child get a great start at his/her first school experience. (Note: no one expects a parent to hold school at home. Just use good judgement and add these experiences into your daily life.)
These tips can be found in a handy brochure available through the Channing Bete Company called, “Helping Your Child Prepare for School.” Their materials are always reader-friendly, and this particular one is written in checklist format with helpful tips to utilitze throughout the months before preschool time.
