Hisss Game Review

PARKERSBURG — There are a few things nearly all little kids love:
Colors, cards and snakes.
“Hisss” by Gamewright Games combines all three into a very fun and
easily-accessible card game for younger players.
The game is designed for 2-5 players ages 4 and up and can be played
in about 15 minutes. The small box contains 50 cards, which are made
of a thicker, glossy cardboard and are quite durable.
Each card has a piece of a snake. There are six heads and six tails in
five colors — red, blue, purple, green and yellow — with one tail and
one head being “rainbow” pieces and able to act as any color. The
remaining tiles make up the bodies of the snakes, and each body part
has two colors.
The gameplay is simple: Each player takes a turn drawing and laying
down a card, trying to be the first person to complete a snake. A
completed snake has a head, a tail and at least one body part.
The snakes are built by matching colors, and the longer the snake the
more points it is worth. Incomplete snakes can be joined by playing
tiles which match the end and beginning colors, so you can score a lot
of points by joining a half with a tail and a half with a head just by
drawing the right body segment.
It is a fast, easy and fun game. The artwork, which shows the snakes
slithering through a desert, is bright and cute. Even kids who don’t
really like snakes will enjoy the art on these cards. I play this game
all the time with my 4-year-old son, and it has helped him to better
recognize colors, look for details, count and to mock me without pity
when he wins.
The game retails for about $13. You can find more information on
“Hisss” and other Gamewright products at www.gamewright.com.
